Course booking Terms & Conditions and cancellation policy

Effective from 1st September 2012.

These ‘Terms & Conditions’ Apply to all Event Academy Live courses and Online courses, and may be subject to change without notice.

Booking a course

  • For current course costs and dates, please refer to our website eventacademy.com
  • Before booking a course, please ensure you have read all relevant information about the course content, to ensure it will meet your training needs and that you are able to meet pre-requisites, where stated
  • Acceptance for ‘live’ Event Academy courses is subject to a consultation
  • Any payments made prior to a consultation will be fully reimbursed if a candidate does not meet the required standards
  • If a course registration/booking form is completed by an individual other than the named candidate, it is the responsibility of the individual/employer to ensure the candidate is suitable for the course and has the relevant qualifications and experience
  • Important note: Acceptance of a booking brings into existence a legally binding contract between Event Academy and a student on these terms and conditions
  • Any term sought to be imposed by a candidate or student will not form part of the contract

Invoicing and payment

  • Payment for all courses must be made in pounds sterling; online, as a bank transfer, or by cheque made payable to Event Academy.
  • Payment processes differ by type of course.

Live courses held in the classroom

  • Course fees are payable in two parts upon booking
  • The deposit
  • The deposit is required to secure a place on the course and is non-refundable
  • The balance of fees owed

The balance is due a minimum 14 days prior to the start date of the course

If any amount, properly due to Event Academy under or in connection with these terms & conditions remains outstanding beyond the due date Event Academy may:

a. Charge interest on the overdue amount at the rate of 12% per annum above the Bank of England base rate (which interest will accrue daily until the date of actual payment, be compounded quarterly, and be payable on demand) or claim interest and statutory compensation pursuant to the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998

b. Remove the student or individual from the course

Online courses

  • All course fees are payable at the time of booking

Course Requirements

Payment for all courses must be made in pounds sterling; online, as a bank transfer, or by cheque made payable to Event Academy. Payment processes differ by type of course.

Live Diploma courses held in the classroom

To gain access to the Diploma course it is suggested that you have any of the following (or equivalent):

    • 2 ‘A’ Levels and 5 GCSE’s (including English & Mathematics)
    • An International Baccalaureate (equivalent to NQF Level 3 and above)

Alternatively if you do not have any of the above qualifications you should be either:

    • Already working in the events or marketing industry with at least one year’s relevant industry experience
    • Have at least two years alternative professional experience within a business environment

Live Postgraduate courses held in the classroom

To gain access to the Postgraduate Diploma course it is suggested that you have any of the following (or equivalent):

    • A general Bachelor’s degree
    • A relevant Higher BTEC National Diploma

If you do not have any of the above qualifications you must either:

  • Already be working in the events or marketing industry with at least two year’s relevant 
industry experience or
  • Have at least three years alternative professional experience within a business 
environment

Live Foundation courses held in the classroom

To gain access to the course, it is suggested that UK educated individuals have:

    • 2 ‘A’ Levels and 5 GCSE Levels (including English & Mathematics)
    • International baccalaureate (equivalent to NQF Level 3 and above)

Individuals already working either within the events, marketing or communications industry or a general business environment, who do not have the above formal qualifications should have:

  • At least six months relevant industry experience
  • One up to date professional reference documenting their role and responsibility and proving their level of competency within a business environment

Overseas Students:

To gain access to the course it is suggested that overseas educated students where English is NOT their first language should have:

  • A minimum International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of at least band 6 (Competent User)
  • Written documentation of all formal qualifications which will be checked accordingly against the equivalent in the UK

Students from overseas without formal or traditional entry qualifications may gain access to the course dependent on their work experience and their competency with written and oral English (courses will delivered in English only at this stage).

Online Diploma courses

To gain access to the Online Diploma course it is suggested that you have one of the following (or equivalent):

    • 2 ‘A’ Levels and 5 GCSE’s (including English and Mathematics)
    • An international Baccalaureate (equivalent NQF Level 3 or higher)

If you do not have the above qualifications you should be either:

  • Already working in the events or marketing industry with at least one year’s relevant industry experience
  • Have at least two years alternative professional experience within a business environment

In exceptional cases Event Academy will consider other qualifications and experience. All registration is at the discretion of the Director of Education and the Course Director.

All students will need to be able to speak and write in English.

Course provisions

Organising and financing accommodation and travel are the responsibility of the candidate unless offered as part of the course.

Accreditation

Event Academy courses are accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) unless otherwise stated and are internationally recognised.

Live course attendance

  • Candidates will receive joining instructions via email to the email address provided on the booking form.
  • Event Academy will send all correspondence, primarily via email to the email address provided on the booking form. If alternative details are received after the booking form has been submitted, they will supersede the original details and all future correspondence will be sent to the new address.
  • No certificate(s) shall be issued whilst there is an outstanding balance (including interest on overdue balances and statutory compensation) due to Event Academy.
  • It may be necessary, for reasons beyond the control of Event Academy, to change the timing of the programme, the date, the venue or the tutor.

Live course and Online course Certification

All course Certificates will be sent to the last address provided by the student (allow at least 12 weeks for your certificate to arrive).

Live course and Online course Cancellations and amendments

    • All requests for cancellations and/or transfers to a different course must be received in writing or by email
    • The cancellation charges will apply based on the cost of your booking, as shown below

(extenuating circumstances will be considered at Event Academy’s discretion.)

  • The online course fee allows the student one calendar year to complete their course and their assessments, after which the student’s account will be closed. Any requests for an extension of time must be received by email and will be at the sole discretion of Event Academy
  • Any refunds given on courses will be at the sole discretion of Event Academy.

  • In the event of an individual named on the booking form not being able to attend, we will accept an eligible substitution of another delegate on the condition that written notification of the substitution has been received by us prior to the course date and an interview and administration fee of £175.00 plus VAT has been paid.
  • In the event of there being insufficient numbers booked onto a Live course Event Academy reserves the right to cancel or postpone the course.
  • In the event of cancellation of a course by Event Academy, Event Academy will endeavour to inform all students at least a week before the course is due to start. All course fees paid will be reimbursed in full. Event Academy shall not accept liability for any consequential loss and shall have no liability to reimburse any other costs that may have been incurred, including transport costs, accommodation etc.

Online course cancellation

The course is available to you from the moment you receive your login details. Therefore no cancellation options are available.

Online Course provisions and exams

All costs relating to the sitting of the exam must be financed separately by the student locally. These costs may include the use of a test centre or equivalent.

Non-EU Residents

Event Academy welcomes overseas students and can provide a letter in support of any visa application you may make. However, we cannot guarantee success or be held responsible should your visa application be rejected or you are unable to enter the UK for any reason. Force majeure

Event Academy shall not be liable for the refund of fees or for any other penalty should courses be cancelled due to war, fire, strike lock-out, industrial action, tempest, accident, civil disturbance or any other cause whatsoever beyond their control.

Intellectual property

All materials provided by staff and lecturers of Event Academy remain the intellectual property of Event Academy, who asserts its right to worldwide copyright and all related rights unless specifically agreed otherwise in writing.

Data protection

Event Academy does not sell, trade or rent your personal information to others. However, we may contact you with useful and interesting additional information regarding our courses and services.

Attendance for Live Courses

All students must attend each module as booked and the number of days as laid down in the approved syllabus and published work scheme for Event Academy courses. Only under exceptional circumstances may a student join part way through a course and acceptance is at the discretion of the Course Director and the Director of Education.

In the event of a student leaving the programme for whatever reason, no substitute or replacement student can take their place. In this event, no refund or part refund of course fees will be given.

Under the qualifications regulations unless there are exceptional extenuating personal circumstances, including serious illness or bereavement, each module should be attended in sequence. Work related issues are not accepted as being legitimate cause to change attendance dates and no refund or part refund of course fees will be given. If such extenuating reasons do arise, it is the responsibility of the student or the student’s organisation to inform Event Academy in writing providing evidence of the circumstances at the earliest opportunity.

Behaviour

Event Academy reserves the right to remove any student from its courses should their behaviour be deemed to be inappropriate or bring Event Academy into disrepute. In such event no refund of course fees or other costs shall be made.

Entire agreement

These terms and conditions cannot be varied without the written agreement of the Event Academy Directors. In particular, no terms and conditions incorporated within your purchase order and nothing said by any person on behalf of Event Academy should be understood as a variation of these terms and conditions or as an authorised representation about the nature or quality of any goods or services offered for sale by Event Academy. Event Academy shall have no liability for any such representation being untrue or misleading.

Severability

If any part of these Terms and Conditions is found to be unenforceable as a matter of law, the enforceability of any other part of these terms and conditions will not be affected. Event Academy reserves the right at any time to make changes to Terms and Conditions and you shall be subject to the terms and conditions in force at the time you study with us.

Statutory rights

These terms and conditions are in addition to your statutory rights as a consumer, which remain unaffected.

Applicable law

Contracts formed between Event Academy and you shall be governed in all respects by English law and you hereby submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
