“I have always had a passion for events, I am always the one organising my family gatherings and birthday parties.
I previously completed an amazing event management module which led to me organising a company summer party. I instantly knew that this is something I wanted to get into as I enjoyed it so much. It didn’t feel like work!”
Emily immediately looked up different event courses on Google, and there it was; the part-time Diploma course was perfect! She attended our open evening and the rest is history. She didn’t even have to leave her job while studying!
“As soon as I heard more about the course and the lecturers that would be teaching me, I knew it was the right course for me.”
“What I love about my role is that no two days are the same. One day I could be liaising with our international sales team, the next I could be onsite at a show helping build the exhibition from scratch.
Recently I worked at MCM London Comic Con.
I found myself looking after Misha Collins (Castiel from Supernatural) during his photo ops. I also had the chance to look after Sebastian Stan, Stephen Amell and Tyler Hoechlin. Pretty cool day in the ‘office’ if you ask me!
Another thing that I really love about my job is that I get to travel all over the world. Just this year I have been to Milan, Barcelona, Paris and Dubai for our exhibitions!”
“It was really great working with lots of different people on the course – different job roles, different levels of experience and different nationalities. It’s helped me to be able to work with the various people that I work with today.
I also regularly use the skills I learnt around managing budgets. Writing a run sheet is something I use all the time.
Through the course I was able to develop my project management in a team of people I had never met before. It was also extremely valuable to have lecturers who are already so established in the events industry to speak to and network with.”
“Without the Event Academy Diploma course I would never have gotten to where I am today, this gave me the knowledge and support I needed in order to get a job in the events industry and it also gave me great connections that I will take with me throughout my career.”
The evenings run from 6.30pm-9pm and the lectures are held at the Business Design Centre, Islington, London.
For many this course is a powerful springboard to a new career. For some it is an opportunity to gain a fresh injection of learning to enhance their existing role. For all it is challenging, fun, different and above all effective.
Connections made on the course (with lecturers, experts and fellow students) provide a valuable network that will stay with you throughout your career in events, and beyond.
