“I had just graduated with a 2:1 in Drama and Theatre Studies from Royal Holloway University in London. Through my degree, initially I thought of working in stage management and directing but I quickly realised it was a tough career path. I was looking for a job which would be more stable but still had that fun element to it.
I had been told to look at events and always liked the idea of working in events so I started searching for somewhere I could learn everything I needed to know quickly, so I could get into the industry. I found The Event Academy online, went to an Open Evening and straight away realised – yes this is it!”
“It was perfect! A great mix of fun and structure – exactly what I was looking for!”
The fact we learnt about every single area of events was so good, especially for someone who had no idea what kind of events they wanted to go into. I really have some in depth knowledge now that I can apply directly to my work.
The second thing is the contacts. I know that I can easily get in contact with my tutors at The Event Academy if I want their advice on what to do.
I would say the best thing that I got from the course is the confidence to go out and get myself started in my events career. They don’t just teach you the facts they show you how to apply them to different situations and have ways of getting around any issues you may face.
“Its one of the only things I have done through education that has actually made me job ready.”
“I actually went straight into a full time job! I am now working for the events company, Terrapinn who specialises in conference and exhibitions all around the world as their Networking Manager!”
“My role is to work closely with the sponsors of events and work with them to create small bespoke events between different teams and the companies attending. I would 100% say the best part of my job is that I can travel – in the last few months I have been to San Diego, Washington & Amsterdam.”
“I use the professionalism that was taught to me to create great working relationships with my sponsors & in a more practical way I use my planning and preparation alongside my knowledge of just how a conference runs to make my time on site so much smoother and more controlled.”
I have learnt what I believe is everything I need to know in order to take my career further and I know I will always have them to go back to if I want to change my career up a little. If I did not join the Event Academy I would not be where I am today.
“Thank you to everyone at the Event Academy for making sure I got an amazing job! You are the best!
