Coming to our Virtual Open Day is the perfect opportunity to get an interactive feel for student life at The Event Academy. This event is open to for Degree Alternative,  & Diploma Postgraduate students. On the day, you’ll get the chance to:

 Speak to lecturers & faculty staff about the subjects you will study  

Attend a short virtual lecture session to learn more about the course 

Arrange a 121 with an Academy Director to discuss personal goals  

Discuss work placements and how we manage this process 

Hear from guest speakers about different industry sectors 

 

We know we can’t meet you in person, however our Virtual Open Day will still give you a great insight into our courses and all the support you will receive should you choose to study with us.

Charity & Fundraising with Claire Derrick

After working for an international finance corporation in Boston, Claire began her UK career at the Duchess of York’s charity, Children in Crisis.

This sparked an interest in the charity sector which she pursued with events in USA, UK, Europe, China, Peru, Israel, Nepal and Vietnam.

She was also an International Challenge Event specialist; creating and leading events globally.

In addition to Claire’s event experience she has also held the position of Head of National Fundraising for Colon Cancer Concern.

We are proud to have Claire as The Event Academy Principal.

 

Festivals & Immersive Events with John Empson 

John began his career in the music industry running his own label – Stiff Records before he stepped into events launching the Eden Sessions at the Eden Project in Cornwall and Somersault Festival in Devon.

He then began a hugely successful partnership with MAMA Group creating the Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire and Citadel Festival in London.

John recently joined one of the world’s largest concert and festival promoters – AEG – to work on more immersive live events that combine music, live theatre and fashion. His first project is the Peaky Blinders Festival – “It’s the greatest new festival idea around – taking elements of Secret Cinema, Boomtown and All Points East and putting them all together to make something incredibly progressive, exciting and forward-looking.”

Luxury Events & Weddings with Sasha Cullen

Sasha started her events career in Finland, Helsinki where she ran the events in the Ice Chapel, followed by a year planning over 300 weddings in sunny Cyprus on the beaches/yachts.

She then returned to the UK as Events Manager for two huge country estates covering 20,000 acres creating and running events for corporate clients including Porsche, Ferrari and Facebook.

Sasha has spent the last 2 years at iconic venue, Savoy London as Head of Weddings, she has been fortunate to work with an array of incredible suppliers and prestigious clients.

Digital Marketing with Tania Tilbrook

Tania has spent the last 20 years working within the music and events. She ran events and marketing for the band, Swedish House Mafia, including main stage festival appearances at Ultra Miami and Tomorrowlands plus a season at Pacha Ibiza.

She has also worked for record labels in the UK and the USA running events and across the globe from Russia to San Francisco plus worked with artists including Kylie Minogue, Tinie Tempah and Gorillaz.

She is also a graduate of the prestigious IDM in London with a distinction  & tutors award in Digital Marketing so brings all her skills in to the Event Academy.
