Volunteering at the London Marathon with the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign

Last updated September 13th, 2018

Event background

On Sunday 13th April 2014 just over 100 people will be running for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign in the Virgin London Marathon. This is one of our biggest fundraising events and raises approximately £200,000 each year to go towards the vital work that the charity do. Each of our runners has been hard at work fundraising and training since last summer and we want to show our biggest appreciation for them on the day and give them all the encouragement we can. Anyone who’s ever taken part in any running event will know what a real challenge it is, so having a dedicated team of volunteers really does make a huge difference.

Volunteering roles

We have two cheer points on the day that we would love for you to help at:
  1. Bridge House Pub, Tower Bridge.  This is the half way point for our runners and overlooks a great London landmark
  2. Embankment.  This point is near the finish line so our mighty team will need that extra push to help them go the final mile.
We also require help at our Post Race reception at the ‘In and Out Club’, St James Square.  Tasks include meeting and greeting runners at the end of the race and escorting them to the reception, managing the massages area, and generally supporting participants and their family and friends. In return we will provide you with a bright orange t-shirt and cheering sticks to help cheer these amazing runners on and welcome them back once they have crossed the finish line.
