The start of Autumn heralds London’s most glamorous event –
London Fashion Week. Ranked alongside New York, Milan and Paris – it’s a showcase for the world’s top designers which also offers a chance for emerging designers to grab attention. Each year it offers more, with live events and shopping opportunities and live streaming, so attendees can celebrate first hand London Fashion Week and London as the global capital of creativity.
London Fashion Week began in 1984 and is held at
Somerset House with the main stage housed in a marquee in the courtyard with an exhibition for designers to show their collections. It’s estimated around 5000 visitors attend each year. All this requires a great deal of
event planning.
Behind all the glitz and catwalks you’ll find a highly polished team of
event management professionals who have to plan all tasks needed to make an event happen. They will cover everything from conception through to completion, such as site planning, catering, health & safety, creating schedules, managing contracts with suppliers and making sure the VIP guests receive
VIP treatment!
But high profile events such as this take months of meticulous planning by
events industry specialists. Event planning is a popular and growing market in the UK service sector increasing the demand for event management skills required to organise a vast range of different events. In a group of friends, it’s usually the ones who come up with ideas for where to go, what to do and who can organise the rest of the group as well as make sure they all have a great time, who are attracted to the events industry.
Jobs for events coordinators will require the right
qualifications, so it’s vital to make sure your training provider offers an
accredited event management training course. Organisations and businesses often buy in event management expertise to organise their annual conference, trade shows, road shows, gala dinners and parties. In 2010, there were estimated to be 72,000 people employed in event management, which included events coordinators.
