My experience on the Event Academy Intensive Diploma course in May 2025 was incredible and has taken me on an exciting journey since graduating.
I knew I wanted to become an event professional and came across the Event Academy when researching ways to become more qualified and employable. They really stood out to me after reading about the different types of courses they offered and the focus on preparing you for an events career out in the real world. After having a great call with Natalie, the Admissions Manager, and attending an open event, I was confident that this was the right course for me.
The 2 weeks on the intensive course was one of the most exciting, challenging and rewarding experiences I’ve had. Professionally I learnt so many aspects of event planning, marketing and delivery from experts in the field. Personally I had a lot of growth in confidence, from being shy and nervous to speak on the first day to overcoming my fear of public speaking by asking and answering questions in nearly every lecture after! This is one I aspect I am most grateful for because I only developed this by being outside of my comfort zone, something I don’t easily let happen!
Another great aspect of the course was the opportunity to gain paid and non-paid work during and after the course had ended for a short while. I was lucky enough to work at the Source Fashion Show in London as a Model dresser. It was an amazing insight into the fast-paced world of Fashion and everything that goes into choreographing and delivering a successful show, an experience I’ll remember forever!
I then started applying for full-time jobs and decided to put myself out there to make in-person connections in the Events world. I met some wonderful people, and about a month after graduating, I secured my first role as a Sales and Events Executive at Prebookers, a Hospitality consultancy agency.
In my role, I get to work on a range of projects from venue finding for corporate event briefs, marketing and event planning for hospitality brands and working on the Humbug Christmas event! My role is really varied and allows me to develop lots of skills that I learnt and used on the course. I occasionally attend networking and launch events where I get to meet new people and constantly learn new things that will help me become a better event professional.
The Event Academy has been amazing and opened doors for me to begin my career in Events. They provided me with exposure to different sectors, opportunities to network and make connections and helped me meet some lovely people who I’ve become good friends with. I loved my experience and made some wonderful memories with my classmates too. All the lecturers, student services and careers staff were really welcoming and helped make the experience even more enjoyable.
I would highly recommend the course to anyone who wants to become an Event professional because it can make a huge positive impact on your career and life. Thank you Event Academy! 🫶
