Grades are coming in…
Last updated May 10th, 2013
Its always a nerve racking time, waiting for your grades. And it’s that time of year again. For most of us it involves waiting by a post box or phone until the dreaded envelope or call comes through. For our students it is an email from one of the Course Directors and maybe a phone call. Most of the time it is good news, which makes the call a joy, ending in a brainstorm about how to celebrate! Sometimes it’s not such good news. This year we have had no failures which is great, a reflection on the lecturers and the attitude of the students themselves.
Our accrediting body, the Chartered Institute of Marketing have been as thorough as usual with their assessment of our marking, even requesting some papers to be remarked and a couple of individuals to be regraded (both up and down). All of which adds to the nerves, but at the end of the day the attention to detail and rigour from the CIM reassures all involved (from students to lecturers to employers) that this course if of the highest quality…and those emerging from it have really achieved a genuinely high level of excellence and readiness to get stuck into the events world.
Many ex students from our previous courses are making brilliant progress, but those who are leaving now need that piece of paper, that title, to add to their list of qualifications in order to be taken seriously in an increasingly competitive world. Obviously the Post Graduates have the luxury of a three month placement in the industry, many of which turn to full time work and the offer of a job. It’s already tough out there but without the strongest level of qualification (which we believe we offer through the CIM) then its a real uphill battle.
Could it be that you are thinking of getting into events or increasing your skill level? Could it be you waiting on the other end of the phone in a few months?
Here are a couple of reactions to some of today’s grades…(which are still going out there!)
“It was a fabulous experience to be a part of the course. The tutors were all great . I would definitely recommend the course to people i know that may be looking to get into the event industry.”
