Every year our students and alumni have the chance to volunteer as part of the events team for the Brits.With 14 different awards, 55 nominations across all groups and over 20 different performers or bands including Calvin Harris and Laura Marling. Add to that a host of celebrity presenters including Kylie Minogue, Simon Pegg and Nick Grimshaw. Lauren Titera, current
Postgraduate student, was buzzing afterwards and had to share her post event perspective.
“What fantastic talent under one roof and you shouldn’t just limit that compliment to the celebrities that were attending.”
Our volunteers get to work in a world class events team and be part of making the Brits happen. It beats almost any other on the job training we can think of. Would you rather sit at a desk from 9am to 5pm every day or working on the UK music industry’s biggest event of the year?
“The outside caterers Payne and Gunter and the on-site O2 arena event team took the time to go through the ‘ins and outs’ of what they do, how they do it and why it is successful. This was priceless. Not many people will ever get that opportunity and I thank you for that!”
Imagine the rush of hearing Rihanna rehearse or realising you’re in the same room as Adele? How would it feel to get to do that as a job, in fact to be a crucial part of making it all happen? Sure, the life of an event manager is full of pressure, but Lauren sums it up really well.
“Organised chaos with rehearsals coinciding with preparations of food and beverage for the tables, gave us all a great glimpse of the amazing line up.”
